Meghan Markle plans to return to acting but is only interested in working with A-list directors in the hopes she'll secure a breakout role so she'll be taken seriously as an actress, an industry source exclusively told DailyMail.com.

The former Suits actress is worried critics are going to be especially hard on her, so she wants to make sure a director of the right caliber is attached to the project.

The Duchess of Sussex has 'been telling her agents that she wants Ava DuVernay involved, and that they need to find the right script,' the insider added.

Although Meghan has received lots of offers, 'she thinks the majority of them are cheesy and beneath her.'

Meghan's desire to land her next acting job in Hollywood could be the push behind Meghan and Prince Harry relocating from their Vancouver Island mansion hideaway, which they had been staying at since Thanksgiving, to Los Angeles last month.

The source said: 'Meghan is worried that she won't be taken seriously as an actress.

'Meghan has made it clear to her team that she will only work with A-list directors, but she doesn't understand that this doesn't necessarily mean they want to work with her.

'This could end up being a very lengthy and tedious process because Meghan wants to control every aspect of whatever project she ends up doing.'

On Friday, Disneynature released its documentary on elephants on Disney+, which is narrated by Meghan. It marks the first solo job Meghan took since stepping back from her duties as a senior royal family member.

But now the Duke and Duchess may have to go overseas for their first joint high paying job, crazy short link as they 'are getting lucrative offers from Japan,' the source said.

They explained: 'One commercial could pay for their entire security team for the year.

'Meghan likes the idea that only the creme de la creme of actors are offered this type of work.

'She knows they need the money and is not entirely opposed to the idea.'

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex certainly had a whirlwind time on their last round of engagements as working royals.

Especially with Meghan's revolving wardrobe which including everything from Topshop and ME+EM to Safiyaa and Victoria Beckham, but she certainly saved her best ensemble for last!

She attended the Queen's Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey wearing a green dress by Emilia Wickstead, accessorised with a William Chambers hat, Gabriella Hearst bag and Aquazzura shoes. We love the rich emerald green colour, and that asymmetric draped detail on the dress? Divine!

It appears to have been custom made just for Meghan, but if you click (right) you'll find the next best thing by Emilia Wickstead.

Earlier this week, DailyMail.com revealed Harry had instructed his and Meghan's agent the couple wouldn't take any jobs that mocked the Queen or the royal family.

The couple is represented by Meghan's former Hollywood agent Nick Collins of The Gersh Agency. He is handling film, TV and philanthropic offers and opportunities on behalf of the couple from around the world.

Harry, 35, has told the agent in no uncertain terms that he and his wife will not do anything that is 'detrimental to the Queen.'

Sources in Los Angeles explained to DailyMail.com Harry does not want a 'media war' or to spark any further 'bad blood' by ridiculing his royal links simply to make money.

The source said: 'Offers have come flooding in to Collins for Harry and Meghan. They are worth tens of millions of dollars and some offers are absolutely in their wheelhouse of charity ideas, however some are straight up advertising and marketing promotions and commercials.'

Earlier this week, DailyMail.com revealed Harry had instructed his and Meghan's agent the couple wouldn't take any jobs that mocked the Queen or the royal family

The source continued: 'And of course having a narrative about Harry and Meghan either reflecting on their royal links or stepping away is an easy storyline.

'However, Harry has instructed his and Meghan's team to nix anything that in any way could be negative towards the royals. Essentially anything that is negative to the Queen, Prince Charles, his brother or the throne is off limits.

'It shows that even though he has stepped away from royal life, he does not want to upset his grandmother or father.'

Insiders say Collins has received offers and opportunities from a raft of big companies. These include liquor firms, medical corporations, banks, sporting companies and entertainment firms.

Entertainment firm partner Collins is a long-time friend of former actress Meghan, 38, having represented her during her Suits days and he attended her and Harry's royal wedding in May 2018.
